Streetprov is a brand new improv group that uses the streets as the stage and whose audience members are the pedestrians who happen to be walking past at the time. Seemingly spontaneous scenes will develop in public areas with the intention to just bring a smile or a surprise to the people lucky enough to be in the area. Based in Amsterdam, the scenes will generally take place in high-traffic areas, such as Dam Square, Centraal Station, Leidseplien, Vondel Park, on the Trams, outdoor markets, etc. Some scenes will require 4 or 5 people, others will (optimally) require 100 or more people.
Everyone and anyone can get involved. Acting experience or no acting experience, a role can be filled for whomever would like to participate. Everything will be recorded from multiple angles with sound, eventually being edited and uploaded to YouTube. To understand the type of scenes we will be attempting to create, look up Improv Everywhere in youtube, as this is where the inspiration came from. New ideas and suggestions are always welcome. On the days of shooting, we hope to do perform multiple scenes at multiple locations so as to utilize as many people for as many scenes as we can.
We know it will be difficult to get everyone together at the same time and we want to make those days as productive as possible. This is going to be fun for everyone who wants to get involved. Please spread the word to any family, friends and coworkers who might want to participate as well!
